Marina is a 22-year-old widow and mother of two children from Al-Hudaydah. "After the death of my husband due to the conflict that erupted in Hays area of Al Hudaydah Governorate, I decided to flee with my children to a safer place. We left all our belongings such as clothes and food behind," says Marina.
The burden of providing daily essentials has fallen on Marina’s shoulders. She is in dire need for food aid and protection in the settlement for IDPs in Abyan. "Life has been difficult since I lost my husband. We are seeking food support and shelter for my family, but I haven’t received anything yet,” says Marina.
“To get food for our families in this camp, many of us and hundreds of others living nearby were forced to go out and beg or work on farms in exchange for a meal," She adds.
With the lack of opportunities to access food on a daily basis, Marina does not have anything to offer her children except water and a few grains, the only items she can afford.
"Hunger is my family’s companion in the life of displacement. In many cases, I cannot find food for my family and my children sleep hungry. In short, it is a difficult life I’m living."
