Health washing facility by CARE Bangladesh's IMAGINE project, following all steps of safety.
After about four months of COVID-19 crisis over the country, in Mid-July’20 IMAGINE project under Women & Girls Empowerment Program of CARE Bangladesh started direct field operation in limited scale at Belgacha union of Kurigram Sadar upazilla. Before starting the activities, all project staff of partner NGO - Mahideb Jubo Somaj Kallayan Somity (MJSKS) and representatives of Technical Partners (Robi Axiata Ltd., NARI and Rangpur Crafts) were trained on ‘COVID-19 awareness and GBV risk mitigation’ through online modality (skype call). Accordingly, all Trainers, Peer Leaders and all general members of Girls’ Collective Clubs were also oriented on “COVID-19 awareness” by over phone discussion made by Field Facilitators. Project team discussed with guardians of adolescent girls for their consent as well.
In advance and as preparatory works for beginning field operation, IMAGINE ensured health insurance for all project staff of PNGO (MJSKS) and required protection gears for staff and development participants. The project also purchased necessary thermal-scanner for temperature measurement, masks and hand sanitizers, set up hand washing stations equipped with liquid soaps in every Clubs and training venues. Hand washing container is covered with the leaflet of safe hand-washing steps that encouraged the girls to practice correct instructions. A safety instruction has been prepared in Bangla to discuss with the participants every day.
All trainings and regular Girls Collective sessions are conducting with maximum 5 participants and ensuring requisite social distance. All kinds of protection mechanisms and safety cautions are being followed sincerely. Due to avoiding mass gathering, only few selected activities have been started are handicrafts training, peer leaders’ refresher training and Girls’ Collective sessions especially on SRHR, GBV risk mitigation and Business planning, etc. Between two consecutive sessions, 14 days home quarantine is maintained for each and every participant of trainings and regular sessions.
