‘Supporting Forecast-based Action and Learning’ (SUFAL) project implemented by CARE Bangladesh is piloting the Forecast-based Early Action (FbA) approach in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram District. Through the FbA mechanism, forecast information is used to trigger various early actions at community-level in advance of anticipated climate events. CARE Bangladesh worked closely with local government administration and disaster management committees before anticipated floods to reduce potential damages and losses.
SUFAL Project is funded by EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid – ECHO and implemented in a consortium with Concern Worldwide and Islamic Relief Bangladesh, with technical support from Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System in flood-prone districts of Kurigram, Gaibandha and Jamalpur.
