About the PWID project:
Prioritized HIV prevention services for key populations in Bangladesh (PWID)
Locations: Dhaka, Narayangonj, Gazipur, Rajshahi, Chapainawabgonj
Prioritized HIV prevention services for key populations in Bangladesh (PWID) project aims to minimize the spread of HIV and the impact of AIDS on the individual, family, community, and society through the comprehensive prevention programs for people who inject drugs (PWID) and their partners. The project will also work to implement HIV prevention services to limit new HIV infections among key populations by the end of 2020 in 5 districts (Dhaka, Narayangonj, Gazipur, Rajshahi and Chapainawabgonj). Awareness sessions were organized in 18 centers (4 Comprehensive Drop-In Centers & 14 Drop-In Centers) covering basic information on COVID-19. Symptoms and ways of prevention were discussed in those sessions and emergency contact numbers were also shared.
Apart from conducting awareness sessions, following measures are undertaken:
- Ensuring face mask for all staff members employed at the Drop-In Centers
- Establishing cost-effective hand washing system and consistent availability of sanitizer/ Hexisol Hand Rub /Soap and water
- Ensuring hand washing for staff members and visitors
