Married with one son called Krishna (4 years old). Husband is a migrant worker – lives with her parents in law. .Cooperative secretary .Before the project she didn’t have the opportunity to leave her house or speak with other people in her community. She was financially dependent on her husband and didn’t know how to register for a citizenship certificate to claim government services. .Now she has her own income. Attended tailoring training and set up a tailoring school and has 4 students .Wants to support the household income .Challenges – financial recourses to start the business.Building trust with customers – worried about making mistakes and customers complaining. .She is very innovative – following the training she has taught herself to make other items such as school uniforms and bags and is able to respond to market demand for fashions that are influenced by Indian films and fashion styles. .Lots of demand in the wedding season.Has set up tailoring school – 200 NRPs/month nominal fee for teaching.Wants to learn advanced stitching, wants to invest in the business to buy extra tools and equipment such as an interlocking stitching foot for the sewing machine.
