VSCF Project Activities Addressing COVID-19 Vaccination :
To spread and accelerate government’s effort to provide COVID-19 vaccine, VSCF project provided training to 72 government vaccinators and 100 volunteers who are currently rendering service to vaccination booths. Two COVID-19 vaccine centers have been established in Gazipur City Corporation area- one in Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College and other in Tongi Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital.
Among 100 COVID-19 volunteers working in these two centers, 55% are provided training by the VSCF project (20 volunteers). During this reporting period, all 20 volunteers are actively working in these two booths- 16 volunteers in Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College and 4 in Tongi Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital. The allowance or honorarium for 16 volunteers out of 20 will be provided by Gazipur City Corporation and remaining 4 will be provided by VSCF project and CARE Bangladesh.
VSCF project also supported COVID-19 vaccine center set up in forms of BCC materials- tables, posters. Further support through safety logistics and BCC materials is on process.
To facilitate smooth and accurate registration of COVID vaccine recipients, 26 people from different zones of Gazipur City Corporation were given an ICT training on ‘Shurukkha Apps’ on 15th February, 2021.
In the beginning of the month, VSCF asked 25 factories to provide a list of factory medical team members who are willing to receive vaccination. The list was forwarded to Gazipur Civil Surgeon’s office and they were enlisted for vaccination. Further, VSCF supported linkage activities to provide other factory workers and staffs with COVID vaccine.
From 7 to 24 February, 2021, a total of 32940 (male- 22752, female- 10188) have received vaccination from Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College vaccine center. In addition, a total of 376 above 40 years old workers (male- 312, female- 64), 74 factory medical staff (male-38, female- 36) and 462 management staff (male-398, female-64) have received COVID-19 vaccine at VSCF’s 25 factories.
