Nima*, 48, is an internally displaced widow and mother of three children. She was forced to leave her home due to the fighting that erupted in Al-Hudaydah. "The fighting and shelling intensified one night. Our house was destroyed and completely burned. Miraculously, my children and I survived, but sadly my husband did not. We left everything behind, and we were unable to carry anything with us. It was unwise to stay any longer and I decided to take my family and go to Abyan," says Nima while reminiscing about the day of fleeing.
"We have been here in this camp in Abyan unable to meet the daily needs. Though we have received some simple assistance and a little food, our basic needs are not met. We have no choice but to live in this camp. At least we have a roof over our heads. Sadly, we were told to leave because the landlord needs his land for farming. I don’t know what to do," says Nima sadly.
