Nhamu Sufu, from Bangala in Macomia district and her three year-old daughter sits in a temporary shelter the family built after their house was destroyed by heavy rains and winds when cyclone Kenneth hit her village last week. The family food stocks is being affected by moisture and may get rotten if the rains continue. “I can’t take the maize for milling as it is wet. The sun is coming for some minutes and then disappearing followed by rains,” she explains. “We are surviving on pumpkins and yams, but they are slowly running out.”
