Nhamu Sufu, from Bangala in Macomia district sits in a temporary shelter the family built after their house was destroyed by heavy rains and winds when cyclone Kenneth hit her village last week. Nhamu, who is expectant is worried about the threat of diseases due to the ongoing flash floods: “We have too much mosquitoes in this area,” she says, adding, “I fear that sleeping in the open will expose me to diseases such as malaria, which may bring complications later in my health as I am about to give birth.”
